In a mid-May dance class, Melissa Anderson displayed grace and technical skill as she executed single and double pirouettes at the Ballet Academy of Texas. But March 26 marked the day when she spun into a new orbit. On that day, all the turning points in her dance career coalesced as she heard in a phone call that The Juilliard School in New York City had selected her for its freshman class.
Hours of studying, hard work and dedication culminated for the Class of 2014 as high school seniors from throughout the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Dallas walked the stage this May. The Texas Catholic is proud to highlight these young men and women and their achievements. Congratulations to the Class of 2014!
Alysia “Allie” Johnson, a 2014 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, won one of the 12 spots for women in this fall’s freshman dance class at The Juilliard School, a prestigious conservatory in New York City that accepts about 7 percent of its applicants.
Kindergarten students at St. Joseph Catholic School in Waxahachie received their diplomas during a graduation Mass on May 29.
